This year was the 4th year of packaging awards and the competition growth was massive from last time. This inflicts how many people are moving industries towards producing wine. Reviews of the judges revealed that most of the low scoring packaging were the ones that had the most irrelevant information and the information tends to be unhelpful. This year’s panel included Curtis Mann from Nob Hill stores, Debbie Zachareas from Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant, Ray Johnson and Barbara Summer that helped launch the contest at first.

Regional Variability:

Wine Packaging Varies from region to region depending upon culture and preferences.

The Chinese prefer wine packaging as glass bottles, Australians prefer bags-in-boxes or casks and old schools like France and Italy prefer to export in glass bottles but for domestic purposes they use Plastic Bottles and bags-in-boxes. The USA is pretty slow to adapt to the new cultures but it is slowly working on adapting the wine in boxes. This move in the manufacturing has resulted in improving the ecosystem pretty well and has also favored in lesser greenhouse gasses release annually.
